Birds Eye adopts freezer-to-oven bag from FFP
Time: 2009-05-06
By Simeon Goldstein
Birds Eye Iglo has launched a frozen-fish range that is cooked in packaging developed by FFP Packaging Solutions.

The "Simply Bake to Perfection" range has been developed to increase fish consumption and expand the market, by making consumers more confident about handling fish.

"People are not confident about handling and cooking fish correctly. The 'Bake Perfect Bag' provides an important reassurance in the kitchen," said Gary Tee, FFP business development director.

The bag is made from a strip metallised PET laminate. It is laser-perforated to vent steam during cooking, and the perforations are tailored to the product to retain moisture.

The laminate, which is supplied on a reel for high-speed form-fill-seal machines, features a heat-seal coating on the inner surface for quick sealing. Cooking instructions can be printed directly onto the pack.

While the pack has been adopted for Fish, FPP said it could be used for any frozen oven-cooked product.
